Thomas Jefferson: "Founding Foodie"
Tuesday, June 30, 2015

As the independence day holiday approaches, we think about our freedom in America.  One of the more interesting facts surrounding one of our nation’s “Founding Fathers” is that some would call Thomas Jefferson, America's "Founding Foodie.” Today on HearSay, our favorite foodie, Chef Patrick Evans-Hylton, will help us explore the many food contributions from Jefferson today on the program.  We’ll see how one of Virginia's favorite sons definitely made his mark on the colonial cuisine scene and his legacy lives on to this day.

Hampton Roads Pride, Hampton Roads Proud
Monday, June 22, 2015

That’s the theme for this year’s Hampton Roads Pride's PrideFest to be held again, Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Town Point Park in Norfolk. This celebration of the LGBT community in the region and its supporters has much to be proud of as marriage equality took hold in Virginia this past year. Now, as the country awaits the same decision by the United States Supreme Court on a nationwide scale, this event in Norfolk could hold an even more celebratory meaning for festival goers.  On today’s program, as we take a look at the components of the festival and its full week of activities, we’ll get an overall look at the state of the LGBT community here in Hampton Roads and beyond.

When to Rob a Bank
Monday, June 15, 2015

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Freakonomics comes a curated collection from the most readable economics blog in the universe. When Freakonomics was first published, its authors, Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, started a blog — and they’ve kept it up. The writing is more casual, more personal, even more outlandish than in their books. Author Stephen J Dubner joins us live today to answer such burning questions as: Why don’t flight attendants get tipped? Would paying politicians more attract better politicians? And why does KFC always run out of fried chicken?
