Today we're joined in studio by the GOP candidates vying for the U.S. House of Representatives seat being vacated by retiring Virginia Congressman, Scott Rigell. We'll leave the bright lights, glaring opposition, and aggressive campaign advertising behind and foster a candid discussion in which the candidates can share their thoughts on tough issues and their goals for the Commonwealth. We've created these long-form conversations so you, the voter, know exactly where the candidates stand on vital issues, such as civil rights, defense spending and economic development, when you cast your ballots on June 14th.

Hurricane Season

The Atlantic Hurricane Season began last week and runs through November 30th. And while Hampton Roads does not typically see an increase in storm activity until late August, there is always the conversation to be had about preparedness. Federal forecasters released their predictions for this season and say this season is expected to be the most active since 2012. On the Wednesday edition of HearSay we'll talk hurricane preparedness with the emergency management coordinators from across our region about what might lie ahead for us this season and how you can be ready.

Next Tuesday, Virginians will cast the first ballots in what is already proving to be a hard-fought race to fill the U.S. House of Representatives seat being vacated by retiring Virginia Congressman, Scott Rigell. Today we'll take a closer look at the three candidates on the June 14th Republican primary ballot and consider how the results of that contest will impact the decision facing voters when a Republican and Democrat square off for the 2nd District seat come November.

Today we'll talk with Jarl Mohn about deep media experience has spanned all media platforms as well as rapid changes in audience trends. He spent almost 20 years in radio, many as a disc jockey at stations including WNBC in New York. In addition to his on-air work in radio, he served as a programmer, general manager, and owner of a group of radio stations. He created E! Entertainment Television, and served as its president and CEO for almost a decade.

PrideFest turns 28 this June for Hampton Roads Pride, the local non-profit, LGBT organization whose mission is to unite the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and allied communities in support of inclusion, dignity and equality of all people. Hampton Roads Pride's annual celebration held at Town Point Park is the city's largest one-day celebration and this year's theme is Love Unites. How did organizers select that theme? What major strides has it seen for the LGBT community in our region? We'll talk with festival organizers and board members on today's program about the festival coming up on June 18, 2016.
