America’s workforce is going through an experimental phase, where the traditional 40 hour work week is being replaced by virtual offices and flexible schedules. Just a few years ago, workers averaged 47 hours of work a week, much of it taking place outside an office -- but recent news that Amazon is experimenting with a 30 hour work week has sparked new conversations about working smarter, not longer. In advance of his talk as part of Old Dominion University's President’s Lecture Series, we're joined by CNN presidential historian, Douglas Brinkleyto hear his thoughts on this year’s presidential election and “The Evolution of the American Presidency.” And later, the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History & Culture opened its doors for the first time this weekend -- we'll talk with the museum’s Associate Director for Curatorial Affairs, Dr. Rex Ellis, about the years of work and research that went into the new museum's creation.

ITT Technical Institute's decision not to offer a fall term has left hundreds of local students scrambling. For-profit college ITT Technical Institute is ceasing operations at all of its campuses, highlighting the pressure federal regulators are placing on for-profit colleges, many of which are already reeling from years of declining enrollment. Today we'll consider the impact on local students and how community colleges across the region arequickly responding to the needs of students that have been suddenly displaced.
