Memorial Day weekend signals the start of swimming pool season.  For many children however, easy access to a beach or swimming pool is not a given.  This limited access also hinders opportunities for swim lessons and other water and pool safety education
.  According to the USA Swimming Foundation this is especially true for African-American and Hispanic children, 70% of whom do not know how to swim.  HearSay host Cathy Lewis will be joined by local and national educators and activists who are taking steps to provide children of all races and circumstances the opportunity to safely enjoy the water this summer.

Scheduled Guests:

Kathleen Reilly - Education Specialist, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission

Leslie A. Paul - Instructor Trainer, American Red Cross and Founder, Really Awesome People Swimming Program

Dan Jones - Division Head, City of Norfolk Aquatics & Recreational Water Activities

Jodi Jensen - Assistant Professor and Director of Aquatics, Hampton University
