Improbable Scholars
If anyone has grasp for the great social problems that face America, it's David Kirp.  He has dedicated his career to tackling developmental roadblocks such as HIV/AIDS, gender discrimination, and healthcare access.  In his new book, "Improbable Scholars: The Rebirth of a Great American School System and a Strategy for America's Schools," Kirp chronicles how one poor urban school district continues to defy expectations by graduating students to college at an almost unprecedented rate.  He joins HearSay host Cathy Lewis in advance of his
October 23rd Darden Lecture in Education at Old Dominion University  for a look at the future of America's ailing public school system.
