The Big Roads
Last week marked the opening of the world's largest bridge over seawater, China’s Qingdao Haiwan Bridge. On Thursday's program, we take a look back at the birth of highway construction here in America. The Dwight D. Eisenhower System of Interstates and Highways still reigns as the largest public works project in history. It was a monumental and transformative undertaking, and its history may tell the story of our nation’s past, as well as its future.
