Property Rights
Professor Richard Pipes authored a book titled Property and Freedom in which he outlines an theory that closely links property rights with liberty, saying that without property there is no liberty. Today we'll bring you a conversation we had with Professor Pipes and we'll talk with Virginia Eminent Domain Attorney Joe Waldo, of Waldo & Lyle, P.C., and Professor James Ely of Vanderbilt University Law School.

I am very concerned about two bills the General Assembly is considering. One is to allow guns into establishments that serve alcohol. The other is to rescind the law that limits gun purchases to one a month. Is this a topic that you have discussed on your program? I don't understand why there is not more public outrage about this. Why would anyone think that guns and alcohol is a good mix? I certainly will not feel safer. I may even choose not to go into bars and pubs if this law is passed.  I think that everyone who is concerned about this should make their voices heard. The Gun Lobby is probably one of the top three most powerful lobbies in the country, and they do not speak for the majority of citizens.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope you will be able to speak to this on your wonderful program.
