Mentor Me!

Mentoring is based on the premise that predictable, consistent relationships with stable, competent adults can help youth cope with challenges and steer clear of high-risk behaviors.  On today's HearSay, host Cathy Lewis will speak with mentors and facilitators across Hampton Roads about the important roles mentors play in fostering the positive development of our region's youth.  As part of our ongoing American Graduate: Let's Make It Happen initiative, we'll also discuss the important role of mentors and volunteers in a local schools.

In recent years, breast cancer awareness has made its way to the forefront of cancer advocacy. Recent months have seen a marketing shift from pink ribbons and wristbands to controversially provocative ads. Virginia General Assembly 2013 Session
Tomorrow the Virginia General Assembly convenes in Richmond for the 2013 session with plans to tackle some of the Commonwealth’s most pressing issues.  Of particular note are the privatization of ports, transportation funding, menhaden fishing, and the indexing of Virginia's gas tax. On today's HearSay we'll consider what’s at stake for Virginia’s legislature as it sets out to shape the socioeconomic future of the Commonwealth.
